I would like to start off by disclosing that I am first a New Orleans Saints fan, then I am an NFC fan and finally I am a fan of individual players. That being said, I am a huge Tom Brady fan and have his rookie card! Yes, you read correctly, I have his rookie card. I am not just a fan because he is easy on the eyes!
Brady is one of those players that you would want your son to mirror. He is disciplined and coachable. I can’t tell you how many times I see players with God given talent and are not coachable. They don’t think they need direction and just limit themselves from greatness. Tom Brady was a California boy who played collage ball at Michigan and was just a 6th round pick in the NFL Draft in 2000 to the New England Patriots. Being a 6th round pick, you know that there aren’t many rookie cards out there for him, so I am super happy I have one. No one would have imagined what Tom Brady would have developed into and where he would have lead the New England Patriots. To date, he has gone to 4 Super Bowls and winning three of them. His first Super Bowl visit was just 2 years after he was drafted. Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002, Brady and the Patriots beat the St. Louis Rams in New Orleans, LA 20-71. I remember that Super Bowl vividly because it was after 911 and it was in New Orleans the last year I lived there. It was an exciting time with a new up incoming Super Star Quarterback. Who would have thought that this 4th String QB for the Patriots in 2000 would have just started in the 2002 Super Bowl and won? That was just the beginning. Brady and the Patriots revisited the Super Bowl again in 2004 (XXXVIII) beating the Carolina Panthers (32-29), again the following year 2005 (XXXIX) defeating the Philadelphia Eagles (24-21), and there last visit was in 2008 (XLII) where the undefeated New England Patriots were on the tip of making undefeated history and fell short losing to the New York Giants (17-14).
This past weekend Tom Brady and the Patriots won their first postseason game over the Denver Broncos (45-10) since 2008 and are heading to the AFC Championship Game playing the Baltimore Ravans this Sunday, Jan 22nd at 2pm CST. A win Sunday will send Tom Brady to his 5th Super Bowl. If the New York Giants defeat the San Francisco 49er on Sunday, Jan 22nd at 5:30pm CST in the NFC Championship, then we’ll see a Super Bowl rematch from both the Giants and Patriots last Super Bowl appearances.
Win or lose on Sunday, love or hate him, Tom Brady is still healthy and has many more years of greatness and will be a Hall of Famer.
